What’s New at CAI?

CAI Students visit GM - Milford Proving Ground & OnStar Headquarters!
Six CAI students spent Wed.Nov.19 at GM Head Office with CAI faculty David Aves. The students went to the Milford Proving Ground in Milford, Michigan and did a few tests around the track on all kinds of road conditions. Then they ventured to downtown Detroit, Michigan to visit the OnStar headquarters and to meet with Brian McVeigh (General Manager of General Motors). Students not only had the opportunity to meet with the executives from General Motors, but they had the chance to discuss how they improved on the cars and shared the steps they took get to where they are in their careers. Kevin Law, a CAI students said “This was a great networking experience for me, and it has opened future paths to work with General Motors business partners.” Please see pictures below under Recent Photos.

AJAC Testfest
CAI students worked at the AJAC Testfest in Niagra Fall from Oct. 20-24. This event was a great chance for students to mingle with auto journalists and various automotive industry representatives. Please see pictures below under Recent Photos.

AIA Conference
The annual AIA Conference took place on Nov.13 in Barrie at the Kempenfelt Conference Centre. Staff and students from CAI will have the opportunity to network with the aftermarket industry leaders. Please see pictures below under Recent Photos.

CAI & Compass360RaceTeam
This year 2 CAI students had the opportunity to go on the road with Compass360 Race Team traveling across the US and Canada. They will be attending the SEMA event in Las Vegas in November. Visit the Compass360 website. Please see pictures below under Recent Photos.

Forumula101 Racing
Formula101 visited Barrie to provide the 2008 Auto show committee with a chance of a life time! To race a formula1 car at the Barrie Molson Center parking lot. To view pictures of this event see below under Recent Photos.

Montreal Career Fair
CAI attended as an exhibitor the Montreal Education Fair. This four day even took place from Oct.15-18 at Place Bonaventure in Montreal.

Georgian Auto Show 2009
Although the 2008 auto show has come to a close, it is only the beginning for the 2009 auto show committee to start working. A new student committee will be selected in November and start working on the 2009 show!

Awards and Scholarships
The Canadian Automotive Institute Awards and Scholarship ceremony took place Auto Show weekend on Sat. Sept.20.
55 awards were given out to 90 deserving CAI students. The total value of scholarships awarded from the automotive industry to CAI students was $121,000. The Canadian Automotive Institute would like to thank our generous automotive supporters who help make our students dreams a reality!


CAI at IMPORTFEST 2008!

CAI staff and alumni attended IMPORTFEST at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Sat. Sept.6, 2008.
This event is the largest Sport Compact Car event in Canada. CAI was thrilled to be a part of it.
